COVID-19 UPDATES

Updates for how we're responding as a church to COVID-19

Update: Friday, November 20, 2020 – 1:49pm

Calvary Family,

We are aware as many of you are of the current situation pertaining to the rise of the coronavirus in our area. Over the past few weeks there has been a rise in transmission of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations that have led our local public health officials to issue new guidelines. Most recently our counties have moved from Safer at Home Yellow, Level 2 (Concern), Orange, Level 3 (High Risk) to red (Severe Risk) .

We want to clarify Calvary’s commitment to fulfill the current Health Department orders and regulations, and to explain what regulations we are subject to as well those we are not.

In late October there was an order issued for gatherings of individuals that stated:

  • No more than 10 people could assemble
  • From no more than two households

Those parameters do not apply to existing guidelines for places of worship and life rituals (churches). HomeGroups are a part Calvary’s ministry and as such are places of worship. Currently churches in Boulder County are limited to gatherings of 50 people based on social distancing compliance with appropriate room sizing.

Recently Governor Polis requested that Coloradans limit their social gatherings and outside household contact. At this time with groups of Calvary members meeting both virtually and in person, in homes and on site, we want to reiterate our desire for us to stay safe and be smart when we gather with others. We are not requiring that all groups suspend their meetings but ask that you remember to wear a mask, stay socially distanced, and wash your hands if you choose to gather.

We want you and your group to determine what is best for this weekend’s planned events. We as a leadership team are watching the current situation closely and will present a fuller recommendation for the days ahead next week. Keep an eye on your inbox and this update page.

As always, we are praying for you and with you for the unity of our Church, our witness in the community, and God’s intervention in our country.

Yours in Christ,

Tom Shirk and Thomas Milburn
Senior Pastor and Erie Campus Pastor
