Calvary Bible Church has a conservative fiscal history, and this project reflects that commitment. The budget for Our Next Step is $5.2 million - a number we arrived on after studying other church building projects and based an amount which is 2.5 times our annual operating budget. Estimating at this percentage of our church's operating budget is a conservative goal and is widely accepted as a reachable target for these types of projects. We've planned on roughly 80 percent of the funds being directed to the Erie Campus and 20 percent to the Boulder Campus. In June of 2011, we purchased the 11.2 acres of land in Erie on which we will build the Erie campus.
Thanks to the generosity of each member and friend of Calvary, we currently carry no debt - both the Boulder campus, and our recently purchased land in Erie, are paid in full. Consistent with our conservative fiscal history, Calvary's Elders have determined that we will begin building in Erie as soon as we have received $2 million dollars in cash (50 percent of the amount required for the Erie project) and an additional $1 million in commitments. The next $1 million dollars in cash would be directed to the Boulder Campus project, and the final $2 million dollars toward Erie. At the most, we would carry a mortgage of approximately $2 million dollars on the Erie building and plan to pay it off as soon as possible.
The estimated total project cost could be:
| Erie Campus Site Improvements: | $1,000,000 |
| Erie Campus Building: | $3,200,000 |
| Boulder Campus Addition: | $1,000,000 |
| Estimated Total: | $5,200,000 |
For over 120 years, the Lord has provided for Calvary through the generosity and sacrificial giving of our members. From our first building at 17th and Spruce in 1889 to our move to Broadway and Balsam in 1952 and then to our property on Kalmia in 1977, we have built modest facilities with little debt in order to accomplish the work God calls us to - we continue to trust him with our Our Next Step.
